What a great season we had for Movies Under the Stars. Starting in late July, on the Falmouth Public Library lawn, we presented double feature movies on six consecutive Wednesday evenings. Twelve movies and no weather cancellations.

As with years previous seasons, using themes for each evening the Falmouth Village team selected 12 movies. A family friendly movie for the early showing and a PG-13 movie, for an older audience, for the later showing. The kick-off night was called Beyond the Stars which started with the summer classic Star Wars: A New Hope followed by the riveting historical dramatization Apollo 13. We wrapped the season up with our True Friendship night starting with Ron’s Gone Wrong and finishing out the season and night with Christopher Robin. Our highest attended evening, of over 250 attendees, was Sing Out starting with Sing 2 followed by The Greatest Showman. Throughout the series we saw families enjoying local take-out while watching the early show. Then the second showing had people coming to the show after having had dinner at one of the many restaurants along Main Street.

This year’s Movies Under the Stars was made possible through generous support from Martha’s Vineyard Bank, our marquee sponsor. Martha’s Vineyard Bank has been a community oriented local institution for decades. Going beyond their membership by helping Falmouth Village bring this banner event to Falmouth Main Street village.

We also extend our gratitude to our partners at the Falmouth Public Library, who helped us source our films, contributed to the cost of equipment rentals, and donated their lawn as our pop-up theater. We are truly fortunate to be able to enjoy movies in such a historic location.

With the assistance of these pillars of the community, we were able maintain the level of production that has made Movies Under the Stars such a memorable experience. Enriching the summer experience for locals and visitors alike.
